About Body Surgery

Reshaping with care — and honest expectations.

Body contouring surgery addresses changes to the body that diet and exercise alone can't resolve — loose skin after pregnancy or weight loss, stubborn fat deposits, or laxity in the arms and thighs. Dr Yaprak's approach is to understand what's bothering you, assess your anatomy carefully, and recommend the procedure — or combination — that will make a real difference. Every estimate is all-inclusive, and all follow-up care is included for six weeks after surgery.

Abdominoplasty result — Dr Yaprak Hamilton NZ

Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

A tummy tuck removes excess skin and fat from the abdomen and tightens weakened or separated abdominal muscles. It's most commonly chosen after pregnancy or significant weight loss — changes that exercise alone can't reverse.

Dr Yaprak offers three variations depending on the extent of correction needed:

Mini Abdominoplasty

Loose skin or muscle laxity below the belly button only. Shorter scar, faster recovery. Possible under local anaesthetic in suitable cases.

Standard Abdominoplasty

Addresses the full abdomen above and below the navel. The most commonly performed type.

Extended Abdominoplasty

For significant skin excess after major weight loss, extending to the flanks or lower back. Often combined with liposuction.

Liposuction body contouring Hamilton NZ

Liposuction

Liposuction removes stubborn pockets of fat that don't respond to diet or exercise. It's a body-contouring procedure — not a weight-loss method — suited to patients who are close to their ideal weight but want targeted improvement in specific areas.

Common treatment areas include the abdomen, flanks, thighs, upper arms, back, and neck. Liposuction can be performed on its own or combined with other procedures such as a tummy tuck or arm lift for more comprehensive reshaping.

Because every patient's anatomy and goals are different, liposuction pricing can only be given accurately after a face-to-face consultation. Factors that influence cost include the number of areas treated, whether local or general anaesthetic is used, and the overall volume of fat removal.

Am I a good candidate?

  • Close to your ideal body weight
  • Good skin elasticity — liposuction removes fat but does not tighten loose skin
  • Specific areas of fat that have not responded to diet and exercise
  • Stable weight for at least 6 months
  • Non-smoker, or willing to stop smoking for the required period

Recovery

1

Day procedure or overnight

Small areas may be done under local anaesthetic as a day case. Larger volumes require general anaesthetic and overnight stay.

2

1–2 weeks off work

Most patients return to light work within a week. Physical roles require longer.

3

Swelling resolves over months

Final results are visible at 3–6 months as swelling fully settles.

Pricing: Liposuction pricing depends on the number of areas treated and the anaesthetic required. A written all-inclusive quote is provided after your consultation. Please request a consultation to discuss your specific goals.

Arm lift brachioplasty result — Dr Yaprak Hamilton NZ

Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)

Brachioplasty removes excess skin and, where needed, fat from the upper arms — addressing the looseness that often develops after significant weight loss or with age. The result is a firmer, more contoured arm profile.

Surgery typically takes 2–3 hours under general anaesthetic at Braemar Private Hospital. The scar runs along the inner arm and is designed to sit in a discreet position. Scar maturation takes 12–18 months.

Pricing guide

Brachioplasty (Arm Lift) — 3 to 3.5 hours in theatre
Surgical fee$11,500 – $13,000
Hospital fees$11,000 – $12,000
Anaesthetist$2,500 – $3,200
Estimated total$25,000 – $28,200
All estimates are all-inclusive: surgeon, theatre, anaesthetist, garments, dressings, nursing, and 6 weeks of follow-up.

Recovery

1

Day surgery or overnight

Most brachioplasties are performed as day surgery, though an overnight stay may be recommended.

2

1–2 weeks off work

Arm movement is restricted in the first week. Most patients return to desk work within 10–14 days.

3

Sutures removed at 7 days

Body sutures are removed at 7 days. Compression garment worn for several weeks.

4

Scar matures over 12–18 months

The inner arm scar fades significantly over time and sits in a discreet position at rest.

Thigh lift body contouring Hamilton NZ — Dr Yaprak

Thigh Lift

A thigh lift removes excess skin from the inner or outer thighs, improving contour and reducing skin friction. It is most commonly performed after significant weight loss where the skin has lost elasticity and cannot retract on its own.

Dr Yaprak performs thigh lift surgery less frequently than other body procedures — it is recommended where the degree of skin laxity genuinely warrants it, and where the benefits outweigh the scar trade-off. This is discussed honestly at consultation.

Is a thigh lift right for me?

  • Significant skin laxity in the inner or outer thighs, typically after major weight loss
  • Weight stable for at least 6–12 months
  • Realistic expectations about scarring — the scar runs along the inner thigh crease
  • Good general health, non-smoker

Pricing: Thigh lift pricing depends on the extent of correction required and is provided as a written all-inclusive quote after your consultation. Please request a consultation to discuss.

2

Common questions

Body surgery — frequently asked questions

Am I a good candidate for a tummy tuck? +
Good candidates are at or near a stable, healthy weight, have completed their family, and have excess abdominal skin or muscle separation that hasn't responded to exercise. A tummy tuck is not a weight-loss procedure — it's a contouring surgery for those already close to their goal weight. Dr Yaprak will assess your suitability honestly at consultation.
Can a tummy tuck and liposuction be combined? +
Yes — combining liposuction with an abdominoplasty is common and can produce a more comprehensive result, particularly for the flanks and waist. Dr Yaprak will advise whether combining procedures is appropriate for your anatomy and goals at your consultation.
Will I have visible scarring after a tummy tuck? +
Yes — a tummy tuck leaves a permanent scar, designed to sit low across the abdomen, beneath underwear and swimwear. The scar is initially pink and visible, fading over 12–18 months. Dr Yaprak uses careful technique to minimise scar width, and provides scar management advice as part of your follow-up care.
How long after having children should I wait before a tummy tuck? +
The standard advice is to wait until you have completed your family — a subsequent pregnancy after abdominoplasty will stretch the repaired muscles and skin, significantly affecting the result. You should also be at a stable weight for at least 6 months before surgery.
Is liposuction a substitute for weight loss? +
No. Liposuction removes localised fat deposits but does not address overall body weight. It works best for patients already close to their goal weight who have specific areas of stubborn fat. Significant weight gain after liposuction can affect the result, though fat cells removed do not return.
How much time off work will I need after body surgery? +
This varies by procedure and job type. As a general guide: liposuction (small areas) — 1 week; arm lift or mini tummy tuck — 1–2 weeks; standard tummy tuck — 2–3 weeks; extended tummy tuck — 3–4 weeks. Dr Yaprak will give you a personalised estimate at your pre-operative appointment.
What is included in the quoted price? +
All body surgery estimates are all-inclusive: surgeon's fee, Braemar Private Hospital facility, specialist anaesthetist, nursing care, compression garments, dressings, and six weeks of post-operative follow-up appointments. There are no unexpected costs after your written quote is issued.
Do you offer payment plans? +
Payment plans are not currently available through this practice. Surgery fees are payable in advance of your procedure date. Please contact us if you have any questions about this.
